Planning to tie the knot in beautiful Miami-Dade County? We’ve got you covered with all the essential details to ensure everything runs smoothly and legally on your special day. Here's what you need to know about obtaining your marriage license and making it official: 

We highly recommend verifying all the details directly on the official website to ensure accuracy and stay up-to-date with any potential changes in requirements or fees. 

Before saying "I do," you’ll need a marriage license issued by the Miami-Dade County Clerk of Courts. Here are the basics: 

• Both parties must be present when applying for the license.
• Identification: You’ll need a valid government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport, or military ID). The ID must include your legal name, date of birth, and signature.
• Age Requirements: Both individuals must be at least 18 years old. If either person is younger, there are additional requirements.
• Application Fee: The fee for a marriage license is $93.50. However, couples who complete a premarital course approved by the Clerk’s office can receive a discount and pay only $61.00

• For Florida residents who have not completed a premarital course, there is a mandatory 3-day waiting period before the license is valid.
• Non-Florida residents or Florida residents who complete the premarital course do not have to wait and can use the marriage license immediately upon issuance.

• The marriage license is valid for 60 days from the date of issuance. Your ceremony must take place within this period. 

Taking an approved premarital course not only reduces the license fee but also waives the 3-day waiting period for Florida residents. It’s an excellent option to save time and money! 

Once the marriage ceremony is complete, your officiant (that’s where we come in!) will sign the license and return it to the Clerk’s office for recording. You can then request certified copies of your marriage certificate for legal documentation purposes.
